Paperpal, a prominent brand by Cactus Communications, has announced its partnership with Aries Systems Corporation, a leading technology workflow solutions provider to the scholarly publishing community.

Through this collaboration, Paperpal Preflight, a web-based platform designed to simplify research writing and editing, will offer authors the chance to run comprehensive AI-powered language and technical compliance checks for their research manuscripts before submission. This will help eliminate critical errors and reduce the editorial workload for Aries Systems’ Editorial Manager® (EM), the industry-leading manuscript submission and peer review tracking system.

Paperpal Preflight uses advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to identify complex writing errors and provides subject-specific language suggestions to help authors improve their manuscripts prior to submission. Paperpal’s AI is built on the expertise of professional editors and learns from millions of edits made to enhance manuscripts for submission; this helps it understand academic writing conventions, flag errors and inconsistencies in the manuscript, and offer appropriate recommendations to improve the overall quality of submissions.

Abhishek Goel, Co-founder and CEO, CACTUS, said, “Paperpal Preflight will provide Editorial Manager with instant feedback on the submission readiness of their manuscripts. Powered by machine learning and trained on millions of published articles, Paperpal Preflight will help editors save a huge amount of time with improved quality of submissions that follow the journal guideline. We believe this is a revolutionary product and Paperpal is the future of academia.”

As part of the submission workflow in EM, manuscripts are sent to Paperpal’s user-friendly interface where authors will be provided with an automated check for structural inconsistencies and complex grammatical errors before the article is sent to the journal office. Once the manuscript passes through Paperpal, it is sent back to EM for submission, accelerating the writing process, enhancing the quality, and increasing the chance of acceptance.

“We are thrilled to continue integrating AI tools into Editorial Manager to create a more robust system” said Jennifer Fleet, Aries Managing Director. “Through our new partnership with Paperpal Preflight, we will provide journals and authors submitting research via Editorial Manager a streamlined tool to boost the success and quality of manuscript submissions.”

Paperpal Preflight is currently advocated by 13 leading publishers carrying over 300 journals and is available to use directly from the journal website. If you do not have a target journal in mind, you can use the standard configuration and check your work with Paperpal for Manuscripts.
